Theonomic Postmillennialism Defended

Guest: Martin G. Selbrede, Vice President of the Chalcedon Foundation (see www.chalcedon.edu).
P.S.: The guest originally scheduled for this broadcast, Willard Ramsey, author of "Zion's Glad Morning" (see http://www.armageddonbooks.com/pmill.html), agreed not to participate in our "End Times Series" after he concluded that his Postmillennial position (unlike that of his replacement, Martin G. Selbrede), is essentially the same as the position already presented by Dr. John Jefferson Davis, author of "Christ's Victorious Kingdom: Postmillennialism Reconsidered", on last Tuesday's broadcast. Pastor Ramsey will be invited back on the program in the near future.

The Steven Curtis Champman Family: A Story of God's Amazing Grace in Personal Tragedy

This is an amazing testimony of God's amazing grace, providence, trail by fire, forgiveness, and restoration from a family who suffered a devastating loss of a family member...and still give God the glory.

I would encourage you to take the time to listen to this interview with the Chapman family done on Larry King Live, soon after their adopted daughter was killed after being accidentally run over in the family's driveway with an SUV driven by her older brother. It is an amazing story of how one family dealt with grief and how through Christ alone...they overcame and are overcoming while giving glory to God!

This is part one of the interview...you can either find the rest of the interview by following the links on YouTube or wait for the whole series to be posted there over the next few days.

Freemasonry

This was taken from the Radio Show & Blog, Iron Sharpens Iron:

John Otis: Unveiling Freemasonry's Idolatry... Plus a review of Dan Brown's 'The Lost Symbol

.
MP3 Available Here

John Otis, who just recently accepted the call to the pastorate of Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church (RPCUS) in Burlington, NC, will address the theme of his new book: "Unveiling Freemasonry's Idolatry... Plus a review of Dan Brown's 'The Lost Symbol'".

This work, which grew from 350 pages to nearly 700 pages, is now finally in print , and is considered to be the most extensively researched and the most comprehensive treatment of Freemasonry by a Christian author.

While Pastor Otis was a member of the Presbyterian Church in America denomination (seewww.PCANet.org), he spearheaded a PCA General Assembly study committee from 1986-87 that was appointed to determine whether the tenents of Freemasonry violated Scripture. In 1987 the PCA General Assembly agreed with their findings that it was incompatible with the Christian religion.

Having finished Dan Brown's book, 'The Lost Symbol', Pastor Otis believes it is noteworthy that Brown has captured the essence of Masonic ritual- the perfection of man's being, the recognition that he is divine. Masonry touts the Gnostic, neo-platonic belief that man has two natures. His divine nature and his earthly nature. The goal of Masonry is that through Masonic light, man's divine nature gains precedence over his earthly passions.

During this interview Pastor Otis will seek to answer such questions as "What are the historical foundations of Freemasonry?", "Why is it a cult?", "What is the nature of the ghastly oaths required in the Lodge?", "What is the Masonic Secrecy all about?", "Were some American Presidents members of the Lodge?", "Why Jesus Christ is forbidden to be mentioned in the Lodge?", "What should church leaders do with members who are in the Lodge?"...and more!

Providentially, without our foreknowledge, this interview is being aired one day prior to NBC Television's rare and exclusive interview with Dan Brown on his book (see http://insidedateline.msnbc.msn.com/).

Why We're Not Emergent (By Two Guys Who Should Be) Interview -9/6/09

Here is an Interview with Kevin DeYoung, co-author of the book 'Why We're Not Emergent (By Two Guys Who Should Be),' a book well worth reading and an interesting interview:

Brief Sermon Overview:
Our guest on the 'Calling For Truth' Radio Program today, will be the Kevin DeYoung, senior pastor at University Reformed Church in East Lansing, Michigan and co-author of the book 'Why We're Not Emergent - By Two Guys Who Should Be'.

In his review of DeYoung's sections of the book (he alternates chapters with Ted Kluck - the co-author) Tim Challies writes the following:

'He covers a variety of topics of great theological importance including the Bible, Christian doctrine, the impact of modernism on theology, and the doctrines of Jesus Christ. He shows the danger inherent in the emergent unwillingness to take stands even on doctrines closest to the heart of the Christian faith.

The claim that emerging theology is still in process is no excuse. 'It's one thing for a high school student to be in process with his theology. It's another thing for adults to write books and speak around the world about their musing and misgivings. I agree there must be space for Christians to ask hard questions and explore the tensions of our faith, but I seriously question that this space should be hugely public where hundreds of thousands of men and women are eagerly awaiting the next book or blog or podcast arising from your faith journey.

No matter what new label you put on it, once you start selling thousands of books, speaking all over the country and world, and being looked to for spiritual and ecclesiastical direction, you're no longer just a conversation partner. You are a leader and a teacher. And this is serious business...'
