Oliver Cromwell-Death Mask

Since we are listening to the series on Oliver Cromwell, I thought it was interesting that Doug Philips had this post up on his blog. Pastor Morecraft has personally shown us this death mask before, he comment? "Ugly Cus' wasn't he?" All in all it is pretty neat. And, Morecraft has this death mask housed on a book shelf in his library at Chalcedon.

It was my distinct pleasure to spend an hour in the pastor’s study of Dr. Joe Morecraft, host of the 40th Anniversary Chalcedon Conference, who handed me a copy of the death mask of hero Oliver Cromwell.

The death mask was taken at the moment of death and has been preserved over the years. Upon the return of Charles II to England and his assumption of the throne, Cromwell and his daughter were disinterred, their corpses decapitated, and their heads placed on the gates of London where they remained for some time. Notwithstanding their posthumous desecration by King and Anglican elite, Cromwell remains one of the great figures in the history of Christendom.

Singing is a very important element our worship. At Westminster, we utilize several resources as aids for worshipping our Lord and Savior. Each week, the hymns selected for Sunday's use will be posted on this blog. If you are unfamiliar with the words or tune, make sure to click on the hymn, where you'll be able to view the words (in many cases) and listen to the tune.

This can also be a tool you can use in privet or family worship as you train yourself and teach your children to have a love for singing the praises of our God!

On Sunday we asked for prayer for a young man who is a POW in Afghanistan.

Here's a little bit of personal information his sister shared on the Prayer Blog, Pray for My Brother:

My brother needs Jesus and he needs to come home quickly and safely. He has been a POW in Afghanistan since June 30, 2009. He is the only POW the USA has there.
The badger is my mascot because they hold fast. That is what I try to do, hold fast to the Word of God, the Way of Jesus and the Truth of the Spirit.
